August 15, 2023 – In a strong display of commitment to the Buhay Ingatan Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) units in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have joined forces with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and the City Government of Bacolod to organize an impactful event – the “BIDAlagan: A Drug-Demand Reduction Campaign and Fun Run.” last August 15 at the Capitol Lagoon.
Over 1000 participants joined the said event as this stands as a testament to the collective dedication of these entities in tackling the pervasive issue of illegal drug proliferation.
Councilor Psyche Marie Sy took the stage to deliver a message of support underscoring the shared determination to create a safer and healthier environment, reflecting the broader ethos of the BIDA Program and highlighting the strides being made in the ongoing battle against drug-related issues, Provincial Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez also graced the activity.
At its core, the BIDA Program embodies a comprehensive strategy aimed at confronting the manifold challenges posed by dangerous narcotics.
By synergizing the efforts of the community, law enforcement agencies, and various stakeholders, the program not only bolsters supply and demand reduction endeavors but also promotes preventive measures, rehabilitation, and the strengthening of overall societal resilience.
The envisioned outcome of this initiative is to elevate the overall quality of life for the Filipino populace while shielding them from the scourge of criminality and the detrimental impact of drugs, all while adhering to legal frameworks and upholding human rights.
