August 15, 2023 – The exhilarating rhythms and beats during the Bacolod Rum Festival mixology and flairtending competition at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central awakened the senses of all the mall goers.

This high-energy event brought together eight talented bartenders who showcased their extraordinary skills and creativity in crafting exquisite cocktails that tantalized both the senses and the palate.

In a captivating display of finesse and showmanship, Geomel Khryss Guanzon emerged as the ultimate champion, impressing the judges and securing the coveted first place; Justin Alipo-on’s impressive performance earned him a well-deserved second place, while Jona Sudayan’s placed as third.

The panel of expert judges, comprising the esteemed Chef Benedict John Uy and Chef Mikell Andrew Montelibano, meticulously critiqued each contestant’s presentation, technique, and taste.

Guanzon claimed the champion’s prize of Php 30,000 and also earned the remarkable opportunity to serve as the Official Representative of Bacolod City in the upcoming Mixology and Flairtending Competition Grand Finals on August 19th.

This grand event will gather elite bartenders from Iloilo, Tacloban, Dumaguete, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, and Cagayan de Oro at the Bacolod City Government Center.

With Php 20,000 awarded to the second-place contender and Php 10,000 for the third-place winner, the competition not only celebrated the artistry of bartending but also rewarded the dedication and innovation displayed by these exceptional mixologists.
