January 9, 2025 – The City of Bacolod, in collaboration with various universities in the city, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), and the offices of Councilors Jason Villarosa, Kalaw Puentevella, and Danna Cuaycong Barzo, held a coordination meeting on January 6 at the Bacolod City Public Information Office, Bacolod City Government Center, to prepare for the upcoming World Radio Day celebration.

The celebration will feature engaging talks on topics relevant to this year’s theme and an awarding ceremony in the evening to honor the contributions of radio personalities and their programs to the community.

Additionally, the occasion is under City Ordinance 08-14-792 s. 2014 that entails the celebration of the World Radio Day.

World Radio Day is an annual event observed every February 13. This year’s theme, as set by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is “Radio and Climate Change.” It highlights the crucial role of radio in spreading awareness and providing credible information about the pressing global issue of climate change.
