Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez discussed measures with city offices, departments, and agency to optimize drug clearing operations and rehabilitation procedures to persons who used drugs (PWUDs) and drug pushers in all barangays of Bacolod City.
The discussion was participated by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Bacolod City Police office (BCPO), City Health Office (CHO), Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), and Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).
Councilor Psyche Marie “Pao” Sy and City Administrator Atty. Pacifico Maghari III also attended the meeting and, collectively, they have outlined objectives in the matter.
Few of which are to attain an effective, full-scale drug clearing operation in all 61 barangays, encourage Local Government Units (LGUs) to conduct anti-drug related advocacy campaigns, and to strengthen Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC).
Additionally, part of the meeting was to reinforce the drug-free workplace ordinance and further develop the Balay Silangan, a community-based, in-house reformation program that aims to rehabilitate drug offenders. Ultimately, to further contribute to the peace and order of the city.
