July 11, 2023 – In an effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal and attract more visitors to Bacolod, Mayor Albee Benitez recently held preliminary discussions with the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and Unilamp, a prominent lighting solutions provider, regarding a proposed development plan for the Bacolod Public Plaza.
The meeting, which took place at the City Mayor’s Office, involved key officials and technical experts invested in the project’s success, present at the meeting were Mayor Albee Benitez, Engr. Loben Ceballos, Officer-in-Charge CEO, Vicente Steve Labergas Aries, Technical and Training Manager from Unilampand, and Engr. Meer Herbolario, CEO Engineer IV.
Primary objective of the meeting was to discuss the proposed improvement of the public plaza’s lighting system, recognizing the significant role that proper lighting plays in creating a vibrant atmosphere.
The said participants aimed to revitalize the plaza’s lighting infrastructure to enhance its overall appeal and ensure visitor safety during evening hours.
While the development plan covers a broad range of potential enhancements, the initial focus will be on upgrading the lighting infrastructure; this decision was made to expedite the implementation process and immediately address the pressing need for better illumination.
Also included in the proposals are the construction of a Tourism Assistance Office, improved landscaping, additional parking areas, and brighter streetlights, among other features, thus, the proposed plan is expected to be further refined in the coming weeks, taking into account the inputs and recommendations from the technical experts involved.
