May 17, 2021 – Sangguniang Panlungsod approved a resolution congratulating the Bacolodnon volleyball athlete Angel Canino of the De La Salle University Lady Spikers for hailing as the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 Women’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player.

The proposed resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo Puentevella stated that Canino played for the De La Salle Lady Spikers as an outside Spiker, whereas The De La Salle Lady Spikers defeated the defending Champions of Season 84, the National University Lady Bulldogs.

The DLSU Lady Spikers were crowned as Season 85 Champions of the women’s volleyball held last May 14, 2023.

Furthermore, Canino raised the pride of the City of Bacolod for her remarkable and magnificent achievements in UAAP Season 85 Women’s Volleyball, hailed and awarded as the UAAP Season 85 Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year in Women’s Volleyball tournament.
