July 3, 2023 – Bacolod City participates in the nationwide celebration of the 49th Nutrition Month, which focuses on promoting Food Security for all Filipinos. The theme emphasizes the importance of making a “HEALTHY DIET affordable FOR ALL!”

The Nutrition Month logo showcases various food items from the Pinggang Pinoy, representing the diversity of local cuisine. Additionally, the presence of the peso bill in the logo signifies the significance of ensuring that food prices are “abot-kaya” or affordable, rather than providing money directly. The pair of hands depicted in the logo symbolizes the collaborative effort required to support the healthy diets of Filipinos. It highlights the need for collective action from government agencies, communities, and individuals.

The logo’s depiction of essential food items like rice, fish, bananas, and malunggay (moringa) emphasizes their affordability and accessibility for Filipino families. It illustrates how these commonly consumed fruits, vegetables, and staple foods can be within the financial means of the population.

Bacolod City aims to raise awareness about the significance of a balanced and affordable diet for everyone. This celebration of Nutrition Month and the promotion of food security demonstrates Bacolod City’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more sustainable future for its residents.
