June 2025 – The City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) held their joint second quarter regular meeting, presided by Councilor Pao Sy. Representatives from SK Council Federation, Bacolod City Police Office,BFP, BJMP, NAPOLCOM, BOI, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Health Office, City Prosecutor’s Office, CADAC, NBI, Parole and Probation Office 1 and 2, Balay Silangan, Citizen Primewatch, Burgos-Ramos Association, United Women’s Association, and other government offices were in attendance.

A key item in the agenda was the approval of the revised ordinance on the installation and regulation of CCTVs across Bacolod City. The updated ordinance aims to boost surveillance capabilities and strengthen coordination among enforcement and monitoring agencies. Other resolutions, including the proposed amendment to the “Riding in Tandem” ordinance and the institutionalization of quarterly joint meetings, were presented and are up for further review.

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported a decrease in crime for the past two quarters, including a 2% drop in total crime incidents and lower figures for public safety and peace and order cases. From April to May 2025, a total of 121 individuals were arrested, including four under the BADAC watchlist. PDEA also reported the seizure of 97 grams of shabu and the clearing of 21 barangays.

CADAC shared updates on its advocacy campaign, which kicked off at Bacolod City National High School, reaching 150 senior high students. The meeting also tackled fire safety issues raised by BFP, including concerns over boarding houses without permits and narrow access routes in high-risk zones.

Looking ahead, the council emphasized continued law enforcement, stronger police visibility, full implementation of city ordinances, and expanded use of technology. The body also expressed support for the June 12 soft launch of the “Our Seas, Our Future” campaign as part of the national West Philippine Sea advocacy.

The joint council reiterated its commitment to peace, public safety, and community involvement—working hand-in-hand with all stakeholders to make Bacolod a safer and more resilient city.
