June 12, 2025- With the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” (Freedom, Future, History), the City of Bacolod marked the 127th Philippine Independence Day with a solemn and meaningful celebration held at the Bacolod City Public Plaza today.

The event was led by Mayor-elect Greg Gasataya, accompanied by several city officials, including City Councilors Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Cindy Rojas, Al Victor Espino, and Celia Flor. The gathering brought together various sectors of the community to honor the nation’s hard-won freedom.

In his message, Mayor-elect Gasataya emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices of those who fought for the country’s independence. “As we celebrate the 127th Independence Day, may we take time to cherish, reflect on, and deeply appreciate the sacrifices made by our leaders so that we can enjoy the freedom we now have,” he said.

The celebration featured a flag-raising ceremony, a wreath-laying and a civic-military parade. Various organizations and agencies participated in the event, including the Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Philippine Navy, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and the Bureau of Fire Protection, among others.

The city’s commemoration served as a reminder not only of the country’s storied past, but also of the continued commitment of Bacolodnons to uphold the values of patriotism and unity for the nation’s future.
