The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) resumes disbursing financial aid under the Educational Assistance Program at SM City, Bacolod City.
The Educational Assistance Program, which falls under the umbrella of Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), was created to assist students in crisis in paying for school-related expenses.
Some of the students are accompanied by their parents and come from different cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental.
Nicolle Sanchez, one of the recipients, stated that as a working student, this financial support is a great help to her and her family. She will be using it for her allowance, school uniforms, and other school supplies.
Pacit Tero, head of the Department of Social Services and Development-Bacolod (DSSD), said that they are aiming to accommodate 960 beneficiaries today.
