Bacolod City Health Officer Dr. Carmela Gensoli and DRRM Head Dr. Ana Maria Laarni M. Pornan shared with the Bacolod Public Information Office the guidance received from the main office of the Department of Health assuring the public that the agency has already completed its case investigation and identification of close contacts of the first identified case of Monkeypox in our country.

The guidance likewise included the assurance that our public health surveillance systems are able to detect and confirm monkeypox cases.

Dr. Gensoli and Dr. Pornan would like as well to inform our public that, in any event of an outbreak, the same safety protocols are observed in preventing monkeypox cases. These are regular washing of hands, wearing face masks, choose always areas with good airflow, and avoiding physical contact with suspected cases especially those individuals with rashes or open wounds.
