
April 11, 2025 – With the theme “Kabayanihan ng Beterano; Sandigan ng Kaunlaran ng Bagong Pilipinas,” the City of Bacolod solemnly commemorated the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan on April 9, 2025, at the Bacolod City Public Plaza.
The ceremony began with a flag entrance and ecumenical prayer led by religious leaders from the Catholic, Christian, and Islamic faiths.
Highlights of the event included historical reflections on the Day of Valor and messages from city officials and guests, including Congressman Greg Gasataya, and Councilors Psyche Marie Sy, Kalaw Puentevella,and Em Ang. Former Armed Forces officers PBGen Primitivo Tabujara Jr. and Col. Jerson Suarez (Ret.) shared inspiring words of remembrance and resilience.
The event was alaso graced by the presence of Councilors Al Espino, Celia Flor, Jason Villarosa, Thaddy Sayson and Dana Marie Barzo.
A touching performance by Erisha Lyn Alayon, Grand Champion of SM Little Star 2024, captivated the audience before the community sang together a rendition of “Pilipinas Kong Mahal,” led by Gina R. Ong of the Department of Education.
Attended by Bacolod City government employees, BCPO Joeresty Coronica, Coast Guard, Philippine Army and BSP.
The program concluded with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony in honor of Bacolod’s veterans, led by the city’s officials.
