May 6, 2025- In line with its commitment to modernize public transportation, the City of Bacolod had initially conducted a comprehensive database profiling of all Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) operating within the city. The profiling starts last April 30 and will run until May 9, 2025, at the Bacolod City Government Center.
This initiative of Mayor Albee follows the recent visit of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vivencio Dizon and is part of the city’s broader efforts to enhance its Sustainable Mass Public Transportation Plan.
According to Dr. Mary Jean Ramos, Head of the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), the data-gathering process aims to profile all PUJ operators in the city. This includes registered modernized PUJs, operators who have consolidated under the PUV Modernization Program but whose units are not yet compliant with documents from LTFRB and LTO, as well as those who have not yet consolidated including those currently operating on the streets.The objective is to establish a more efficient, reliable, and environmentally sustainable public transport system, said Dr. Ramos.
As agreed during the conference with DOTR Secretary Vince Dizon and Mayor Albee, both will review the modernization program of the national government, identify the gaps and address the concerns of operators, drivers and passengers.
