BCD daycare children share their talents in city-wide kids contest

November 23, 2023 – “Una, I would like to congratulate the children who are the participants here. Even though wala pa ang result pero grabe ila performance. Makita naton ang ila development, amo ni permi gapalipay sa mga ginikanan. Gin showcase gid naton no ang talento sang aton mga kabataan. So, congratulations, everyone. Thank you,” Councilor Celia Flor remarked. In line with the 31st National Children’s Month with the theme, “Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all!”, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), together with the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), Local Children for the Protection of Children (LCPC), and the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) spearheaded the city-wide Draw & Tell, Singing, and Folkdance Contest to showcase the talents of bacolod children ages 3-4 years old today at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

Graced by Councilors Celia Flor and Simple Distrito, LCPC/GAD Secretariat Anjanette Servano, ECCD Focal Alma D. Braza, Disability Affairs Officer IV and DSSD Officer-In-Charge Alma D. Gustilo, Central Cluster Head Wendy Castro, South Cluster Head Amie Magalona, and North Cluster Head Bernadith Fuentes.

The event did not only serve as a venue for showcasing the children’s talents, but have served its grand purpose of recognizing and honing the youth’s capabilities in their mental and physical developing years with a total of 9 participants for the Draw & Tell, 9 for the Singing, and 9 groups for the Folkdance. Additionally, there will be numerous activities following such as the State of the Children’s Address by Hon. Albee Benitez and the Children’s Fun day in Magikland, Silay with 2,000 participants on December 2, 2023.

Moreover, the 1st place or deemed as the Champion will act as the representative of the regional contest in Punta Villa, Iloilo City on December 6, 2023. The identified awardees are as follows:

Singing Contest:

3rd place – 89.67%

2nd place – 90.33%

Contestant #4 Lyam Tobby Terrobias from Brgy. Cabug

1st place/Champion – 93.33%

Contestant #8 Ghia Lavigne Daipal from Brgy. Tangub
