The historical marker for Yulo’s Park will be unveiled today, August 22. Yulo’s Park, located at Rosario Street, Barangay 14, Bacolod City, holds great historical significance. It received its historical marker from the National Museum on September 28, 2017. This recognition is part of an effort to include the park in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Yulo’s Park was built on August 10, 1919, by Negros statesman Don Mariano Yulo, who once served as the Governor of Negros Occidental and later became a senator during the Commonwealth period.

His son, Alfredo Yulo, born in Bacolod, later served as the Mayor of Bacolod from May 27, 1940, to May 29, 1942. Alfredo Yulo was also a prominent planter, owning hundreds of hectares in Hinigaran and Isabela, and he served as the president of the Binalbagan-Isabela Planters Association (BIPA).

Yulo’s Park turned 105 years old last August 10, 2024.
