May 03, 2023 – A resolution was passed to respectfully remind all Punong Barangays and the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs of Bacolod City that has senior citizen identification cards are valid for life and replacement should only be done in case of severe damage or loss.
Authored by the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs, Councilor Celia Matea Flor, during the 44th regular session, May 3.
Whereas, stated in the resolution that the Senior Citizen Identification Cards are of lifetime validity and should only be replaced when severely damaged or lost and is valid regardless of the current administration;
Senior Citizen ID serves as a vital document in availing of benefits and privileges for senior citizens and was issued by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs of Bacolod City.
The Committee on Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs has been informed that some senior citizens have been required by some of their Punong Barangays to replace their identification cards even when these are still in good condition and within the lifetime validity period stating having a new administration as the reason.
As such, the replacement of Senior Citizen Identification Cards incurs unnecessary expenses and inconvenience for senior citizens who are already facing financial and mobility challenges as well as the City of Bacolod.
