August 6, 2024 – Today, Bacolod City, in collaboration with ESJ & Sons Construction, held a blessing and groundbreaking ceremony for the rehabilitation of the Old City Hall Building located at the corner of Araneta-Luzuriaga Streets in Bacolod City.
The project entails the design and construction of a four-storey building with a basement, adhering to the National Building Code of the Philippines and other accepted design standards for government office centers.
The estimated cost of the project is 222 million pesos, funded by the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
During his opening speech, Mayor Albee Benitez emphasized that the rehabilitation or improvement concept will embrace Bacolod’s history and use new technology to create a modern, efficient and inclusive hub that will serve the needs of every bacolod for generations to come.
Attendees included Bacolod City Councilors, City Administrator Dr. Lucille Gelvolea, Development Bank of the Philippines, National Historical Commission – Negros Occidental, City Engineer’s Office, department heads, and barangay officials, with Rev. Gregory Narciso Gayares III blessing the ceremony and the land where the new city hall will stand.
