November 2, 2022 – A proposed ordinance by Councilor Celia Matea Flor on providing maintenance medicine for hypertension and diabetes to all senior citizens residents of Bacolod was approved for first reading during the 18th regular session of the 11th council of Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Due to lack of funds, indigent senior citizens are unable to purchase their maintenance medicines and sustain their daily necessities which needs financial support from the government.

As to which this ordinance aims to provide medical assistance to the resident senior citizens by appropriating funds to the Bacolod City Health Department for the purchase of maintenance medicines, exclusive for the city’s indigent senior citizens.
Should this ordinance be approved, those with Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) Identification Card who have undergone the free check up and have a prescription from the City Health Office are eligible to avail the free medicines.
