January 25, 2025 – Bacolod City came alive as the Palarong Panlungsod 2025 officially opened, marking the start of a week-long celebration of athletic excellence.

The event began with a Zumba session that energized both athletes and spectators. This was followed by the entrance and recognition of delegates, with clusters proudly representing their respective barangays.

Mayor Albee Benitez delivered a warm opening message, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork.

Atty. Sonya Verdeflor inspired the athletes with her message, encouraging them to give their best in every competition. The Arnis group performed an intermission number, showcasing the beauty and strength of Filipino martial arts.

Dennis Develdos, Schools Division Superintendent of the Department of Education, uplifted everyone with a short speech.

Mayor Albee led the Oath of Sportsmanship, instilling the spirit of fairness and respect among all participants.

One of the most anticipated moments of the ceremony was the torch lighting, symbolizing the official start of the games. This honor was given to Mico Villaran and Mayor Albee Benitez, who lit the torch and declared the Palarong Panlungsod 2025 officially open.

The ceremony concluded on a high note with the performance of the official hymn, “Bakod, Bacolod!” performed by Johpong and Phsyke which filled the venue with pride and enthusiasm.
