August 17, 2024 – “Since 2022, Masskara is the forefront festival of the country. All of these efforts to bring people from other places is all for the city itself, for the benefit of all Bacolodnons. We’re working with a TV station to widen the reach of the festival and bring more tourists”, Mayor Albee Benitez remarked during his opening speech. The Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, Inc. officially unveiled the Masskara Festival 2024 celebration theme, logo, and activities through Unmask, a Sponsors’ and Press Presentation held today at the L’Fisher Hotel, Bacolod City.

The event was graced by Mayor Albee Benitez, along with key festival figures: Katherine Matiling, President and Festival Director for Finance, Admin, Concerts, Events, and Fair; Kuster Y. Cadagat, Secretary and Festival Director for Cultural and Accredited Events; and Jericho Redil, Treasurer and Festival Director for Good Governance, Finance, Procurement, and Admin. Numerous city officials and major sponsors also attended the event.

This year’s theme is Sapphire Celebration that will feature numerous activities and events. The official events will begin from October 11 until October 27, but the first activity will be on September 29 with the Ms. Bacolod Sashing at SM City Bacolod.

Additionally, the official logo was revealed with additional elements added to it, highlighting the message of sustainable development and designed by Myish Endonila.

Identified people who provided excellent contributions to the Masskara Festival were also honored such as the founder of the Masskara Festival, Hon. Jose Digoy Montalvo which was represented by his daughter Marissa Montalvo-Corral, Co-Founder Ely Santiago which was represented by his children Kim and Lee Santiago, First Masskara Queen 1981 Cissi Villacin, and Choreographer and Dancing Queen of Bacolod City Donna Porter which was represented by her daughter Darlyn Porter.

Finally, with the official unveiling of this year’s Masskara Festival logo, theme, and activities, people can look forward to an even brighter and unforgettable festival.
