December 3, 2024- The City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) convened for its 4th quarter regular meeting at L’fisher Hotel in Bacolod City, with Mayor Albee Benitez presiding over the session. In attendance were key officials from various member agencies, including DILG Bacolod OIC Director Christian Nagaynay, BCPO City Director PCOL Joeresty Coronica, City Prosecutor Ma. Theresa Ditching, FSUPT Jenny Mae Masip, and representatives from the Philippine Army, BJMP, Philippine Coast Guard, HPG, NAPOLCOM, DRRMO, CADAC, DSSD, Parole and Probation I and II, as well as other government representatives.

The meeting’s agenda focused on several key issues related to peace and order, including the presentation of the Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) Plan for the second semester of CY 2024 by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

City Director, PCOL Joeresty Coronica, provided an update on the current peace and order situation in Bacolod. His report included a comprehensive overview of the city’s accomplishments in maintaining security, the current crime rates, and the security plans in place for the upcoming holiday season. Coronica also addressed various concerns related to public safety and the city’s overall crime prevention strategy.

FSUPT Jenny Mae Masip of the BFP also presented a detailed report on the Bureau’s accomplishments, including key initiatives and achievements in fire safety and prevention. She highlighted the ongoing Red Zone Program, which focuses on areas with a high risk of fire hazards, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance and community participation in fire prevention efforts.

Another significant topic on the agenda was the presentation of the POC Utilization Report for CY 2024, comparing it to the previous year’s performance. This presentation provided an analysis of the utilization of resources, as well as the challenges and successes encountered during the year.

The meeting also featured several project proposals aimed at strengthening public safety in Bacolod. These included proposals from the Parole and Probation Office, the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police Forensic Unit, and the Bacolod-Silay Airport Police Station. These proposals are expected to further enhance the city’s security infrastructure and foster stronger collaboration between law enforcement and public safety agencies.

The session highlighted the continued efforts of various government agencies to ensure peace and order in Bacolod City. Mayor Albee reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the city’s safety, particularly as the holiday season approaches.
