June 26, 2023 – The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) was officially launched today during the Flag Ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
The event was attended by Acting City Director Police Colonel Noel Aliño of the Bacolod City Police Office, along with members of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
IDADAIT holds significant importance in the Philippines, as it was institutionalized through Presidential Proclamation No. 264 on June 1, 1988.
This annual global observance serves as a platform to raise awareness about the perils of illegal drugs, celebrate accomplishments in the fight against drug abuse, and strengthen international collaboration and support.
Designated on June 26th each year, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime utilizes this commemorative day to emphasize the risks associated with drug use and the illicit drug trade.
Exhibit showcases the adverse effects of drug abuse and highlights successful anti-drug initiatives undertaken by the city.
The exhibit aims to engage the public, educate them about the dangers of drugs, and promote a united front against illicit drug activities.
Citizens of Bacolod City are encouraged to visit the IDADAIT exhibit and join in the efforts to create a drug-free community, as the city government remains committed to combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking, ensuring the well-being and safety of its residents.
