The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, thru the National Gawad KALASAG Committee, announced awarded Bacolod City as Beyond Compliant for being part of the list of awardees for the 22nd Gawad KALASAG Seal for Excellence in DRRM and Humanitarian Assistance for the Local DRRM Councils and Offices category.

Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at sakuna LAbanan, SAriling Galing ang kaligtasan) was established in 1998, in Search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance.

This has served as the country’s recognition and award scheme for various stakeholders who promote and implement disaster risk reduction and management, climate change adaptation (DRRM-CCA), and humanitarian assistance programs that protect and shield high risk communities against extreme hazards and render them more capable of addressing their vulnerabilities.
Commencing Calendar Year 2022, the GK award the following categories; GK Seal for Local DRRM Councils and Office (LCDRRMCO); GK Special Awards for Civil Society Organizations such as Best Civil Society Organization, Best People’s Organization, and Best Volunteer Organization; Best Private Organizations; Best Government Emergency Management and Response Teams (GEMs); and GK Special Recognition for Individuals and Organizations.
This year, there are 135 Beyond Compliant & 436 Fully Compliant Local Government Units Awardees.
