November 7, 2024 – The Bacolod City Government received an additional P50 million fund from the Department of Health (DOH) on November 5, 2024, to support the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP). This funding comes as a response to the request of Mayor Albee Benitez for more resources to cover rising healthcare costs under BacCHP, which requires around P16 million monthly.

Under the BacCHP ordinance, the city government provides P15,000 for each health card holder and coverage for hospital bills for their dependents. Bacolod has already disbursed over P80 million, benefiting more than 9,000 residents.

This latest DOH-approved funding will go directly to seven accredited hospitals in Bacolod, aiming to ease financial strains.
