On April 18, 2024, the City Government of Bacolod, together with the Bacolod City Nutrition Committee, welcomed the Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) National Nutrition Survey Team at the BCGC lobby.
The program commenced with welcoming remarks from Engr. Mae Cuaycong, Special Assistant to the Mayor, followed by Ms. Agape Paula Apolinar, Project Technical Specialist IV of DOST, who elaborated on the purpose and objectives of the visit, along with an introduction to their team composition. Ms. Apolinar noted that this marks the second year of the National Nutrition Survey for 2023.
Furthermore, the office is tasked with conducting nutrition surveys across the 17 barangays and 392 households in Bacolod City. The survey will entail interviews on daily food consumption and food budget, body measurements, and blood collection, administered by their team composed of nurses, dieticians, and medical technologists. The gathered data will serve as the foundation for assessing the current nutrition status and developing health and wellness programs for Bacolod City.
Notable attendees at the event included City Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Lora Clarin, BACCHP Medical Director Dr. Edwin Miraflor, and the 75 DOST Scholars, who are slated to commence their studies from April 18 to May 2, 2024.
