November 16, 2022 – The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City passed the ordinance declaring Chicken Inasal as a cultural property of Bacolod City on its third and final reading during the 20th Regular Session.
The proposed ordinance was authored by the committee on history, culture & arts, Councilor Em Ang, as chicken inasal is described by TasteAtlas as “a unique Filipino grilled chicken dish” and “the signature dish of the entire Visayas region.”
Inasal na Manok received a perfect 4.6 out of 5 stars from TasteAtlas, an experiential travel guide to traditional food that compiles authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and research articles about popular ingredients and dishes, in its annual list of the 50 Best Chicken Dishes in the World, which was released last October .
In order to make the chicken inasal as a cultural property of Bacolod City, the passed ordinance must be submitted to the Philippine Registry of Cultural Properties (PRECUP) as a requirement.
PRECUP is the repository of all information pertaining to cultural properties in the Philippines that are deemed significant to our cultural heritage.
