Bacolod City – In a concerted effort to support the communities affected by the recent Kanlaon Volcano eruption in Canlaon City, the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office (CCLDO) and the Bacolod City Cooperative Development Council (BCCDC) have mobilized relief operations to provide immediate aid to cooperative members and residents in need last February 21.

CCLDO personnel Brenda C. Burdeos, Project Development Officer IV; January N. Bolves, Project Development Assistant/AO Designate; Elsa Dioquino; and Melody Belo, CCLDO staff, personally delivered the goods to Canlaon City. Demonstrating the spirit of cooperation and solidarity, the primary cooperatives in Bacolod City actively participated in the relief efforts, ensuring that essential goods reached the affected communities.

The assistance provided includes 200 food packs containing 5 kilograms of rice each, along with 400 canned goods and 400 packs of instant noodles. In addition, the City Disaster Risk ReductionManagement Office (DRRMO) has contributed 100 pieces of water containers (Jerry Cans) to address the need for safe water storage among the victims.

“We stand in solidarity with our fellow cooperators and the affected communities of Canlaon City. Through these relief efforts, we hope to alleviate some of the hardships they are facing and extend our support during this challenging time.” CCLDO Project Development Officer IV Brenda Burdeos remarked.

The relief operations reflect the cooperative sector’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility, embodying the cooperative principle of concern for the community. Moving forward, CCLDO and BCCDC continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with relevant agencies to assess additional needs and extend further assistance where necessary.
