November 26, 2024 – In celebration of the National Children’s Month, the City of Bacolod, through Councilors Celia Flor and Em Ang, together with the Local Council for the Protection of Children, DSWD, and other government organizations, hosted the Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) Summit today at the Bacolod City Government Center Lobby.
With the theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,” the summit highlighted the dangers of online platforms and social media for vulnerable children.
During the event, Atty. Hera Aiza Marie A. Barona-Nifras emphasized the importance of RA 11930, the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children Act and the Anti-Child Sexual Abuse of Exploitation Materials Act, as key steps towards creating a safer digital environment for Filipino children.
