Under the visionary leadership of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” B. Benitez, Bacolod City achieved a historic milestone in 2023, becoming the first local government unit to partner with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and PAG-IBIG for the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
Through the Asenso Yuhum Housing Project in the Arao Residences Property, four buildings comprising 296 units have been completed, with PAG-IBIG-approved beneficiaries set to receive their homes by mid-December 2024, according to Ms. Ma. Victoria Parreñas, Department Head of the Bacolod Housing Authority.
Aimed at constructing 25 buildings, this program seeks to provide safe and secure homes, especially for informal settlers (ISFs), particularly those in 258 high-risk “red zones” prone to fire hazards due to overcrowding, substandard materials, and lack of access to basic utilities.
This initiative represents a transformative stride toward achieving a Homeless-Free Bacolod and ensuring sustainable urban development.
