
March 25, 2025 – With the theme, “The Climate Crossroads: Urgency, Equity, and Bacolod’s Action”, the City of Bacolod, through its City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), organized a research summit on March 24 at Seda Hotel, Bacolod City.
The event aims to address the intersection of climate science, social justice, and academe-government cooperation for a meaningful climate action.
The summit, led by CPDO Head Dr. Mary Jean Ramos, brought together notable speakers and dignitaries, including Councilor Kalaw Puentevella, Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office Head Dr. Frances Mae Llamas, and DILG City Director Christian Nagaynay.
The event featured a diverse range of discussions on critical topics, including the Climate Change and GIZ Urban Act Project by Urban-Act Philippines Advisor Francisco S. Dacumos III, Climate Realities and Local Solutions by LCC-Bacolod Graduate School Professor Dr. Carmen C. Menes, Bacolod Creative Placemaking by USLS-CBA Dean Dr. Noreza A. Causing, New Urbanism by DILG City Director Christian Nagaynay, and Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Action by Prof. Dr. Stefan Greiving of Dortmund University, Germany.
This initiative marks a significant step in Bacolod’s commitment to sustainable development, highlighting the city’s resolve to create a greener, more equitable future for generations to come.
