June 5, 2024- The City Development Council, spearheaded by OIC-BENRO Ms. Ma. Fe Trespuentes, organized a World Environment Day 2024 event with the theme “Land Restoration, El Niño & La Niña Resistance.” The event, which also addressed SGLG updates, was held at the Bacolod City Government Center main lobby.

The event opened with messages from City Administrator Dr. Lucille Gelvolea and Barangay Montevista Chairperson of CDC Environment Sector, Glo-Ann Tambasen. The signing of the Executive Order for CLUP and CDP Updating was led by CDC Head Secretariat Ms. Mary Jean Ramos.

This was followed by a video presentation titled “Kalinisan Day” showcasing improvements in tree lanes, plazas, and pocket gardens. A discussion on “Urban Green Corridors and the Implications for Urban Development” was presented by DILG Bacolod OIC Director Christian Nagaynay.

Awards and certificates of appreciation were then presented to Ms. Glo-Ann Tambasen and Ms. Ma. Fe Trespuentes for recognizing World Environment Day 2024.

The event concluded with the soft launch of three initiatives:

1. Inter-Barangay Search for the Cleanest, Greenest, and Best Solid Waste Management Contest 2024

2. CSO Best Innovations for Environmental Sustainability

3. Best Project Concepts/Research Papers for Urban Climate Action Resiliency

The celebration highlighted Bacolod City’s dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable urban development.
