May 21, 2024- The Province of Capiz recently held its Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas Capiz Chapter Provincial Congress 2024 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City. The event, themed “Empowerment for Tomorrow: Building Strong Communities,” began with opening remarks from Hon. Nico Yap, the Liga ng mga Barangay President of Capiz Province.

Hon. Julius Sablan, Provincial President of LnB Negros Occidental, followed with a warm welcome address. Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez also extended his greetings, saying, “Welcome sa tanan sa City of Smiles. Ginakalipay ko gid nga ginpili nyo ang Bacolod as one of your venues for your convention… So thank you, enjoy Bacolod and let me know if there is anything the City of Bacolod can do for all of these hardworking Barangay Captains of the Province of Capiz.”

The convention featured discussions on three key topics: “SGLGB: Good Governance at the Barangay Level,” “How to Conduct Parliamentary Procedures in the Barangay,” and “Katarungang Pambarangay: The Barangay Justice System.”

The event aims to enhance governance at the barangay level by addressing these critical topics. By bringing together barangay captains and officials, the convention seeks to foster knowledge sharing, improve leadership skills, and promote effective community management.
