On City Ordinance No. 1019, February 1, 2023, the City of Bacolod will now adopt QR PH Digital Payments to all business establishments and local transportation in line with the Paleng-QR PH Program.

On June 22, 2022, the DILG and BSP released a Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 1 Series of 2022 on the Paleng-QR, which established guidelines enjoining Local Government Units’ (LGUs) participation in the Paleng-QR Ph Program, in which the letter from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) informed that the Bacolod LGU has been included in their priority list to launch this program in the middle of February this year.

Transitioning to the digitalization of payments proves to be effective in facilitating the continuation of business and government transactions amid mobility restrictions.

GCash and PayMaya Philippines already passed their letter to introduce their application in the city in support of the Paleng-QR PH Program.

QR payments will be available on all public markets, sari-sari store owners, Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs)/local transportations and other local merchants in Bacolod City are hereby directed to make QR Payments available to their customers, in line with the Paleng-QR Ph Program.

With Bacolod City pushing through this program, it will be considered as the first Paleng-qr launch in Western Visayas, the second city to launch this year and the fourth LGU being Paleng-QR PH Plus ready in the entire country since this program was launched.
