January 24, 2025 – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) paid a New Year’s Call with Mayor Albee Benitez today at the City Mayor’s Office, Bacolod City Government Center.
Together with Mayor Albee Benitez are Councilor Pao Sy, Secretary to the Mayor Atty. Marty Go, BFP Chief Fsupt. Jenny Mae C. Masip, along with other BFP staff and personnel.
During the New Year’s Call, the BFP shared numerous updates on their activities and projects in the year 2024, including the History of Fire Incidents 2019-2024, Fire Safety Intervention, and the Pilot Testing of the Red Zone Program.
Additionally, it was reported that from the year 2022-2024, electrical ignition is the first probable cause of fire. It was also shared that in the City of Bacolod, 48 out of 61 barangays (78%) were identified as Red Zone Areas or areas with a high risk of fire incidents.
Finally, the BFP fully accomplished the hazard mapping and the fire hose layout and is ready to conduct their pilot testing of the red zone program in Brgy. Banago starting in the month of February, covering 24 puroks and featuring activities such as the house-to-house posting of BFP Emergency Numbers, Conduct of Fire Safety Lectures and Fire Drill, and the Implementation of Fire Safety Interventions, among many others.
