October 13, 2024 – Seven barangays revealed their vibrant and intricately designed masks and costumes during a ribbon-cutting ceremony today, October 13, at Robinsons Place Bacolod. These eye-catching ensembles will be featured in the Street Dance and Arena Competition on October 27 at Paglaum Grandstand.
Barangays Granada, Bata, 6, 12, 18, 21, and 35 showcased their creations, judged on design, craftsmanship, and visual impact. The preview sparked excitement among festival-goers for the upcoming main event.
Judging the unveiling were Jo Aron Espinosa, Vice President of Mangkas Group of Artists; fashion designer John John Ditching; Rhoderick Samonte, former MassKara Festival Director and current Director for Internationalization at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University; John Victor Go, President of Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center; and creative consultant of ELEKTROIKA Diva Doc Ma. Xenia Guanzon.
Also present were Councilor Israel Salanga, MassKara Festival Chairman Jojie Dingcong, Festival Director for Cultural Events Kuster Y. Cadagat, Festival Director for Governance and Finance Jericho Redil, and Street Dance Chairperson Dr. Baldomero F. Defensor Jr., alongside Robinsons Place Bacolod representatives Krista Lapore, Mary Jo San Marte, and Fiona Oro.
