The Department of Education Division of Bacolod City officially declared the opening the annual journalism fest for students today, May 2.
The Division Schools Press Conference gathered different DepEd elementary and secondary schools to showcase their prowess in Journalism. Campus journalists will compete in different competitions in Filipino and English categories. The said contests are; news writing, feature writing, sports, and editorial writing, editorial cartooning, copyreading and headline writing, photojournalism, column writing, and science and technology writing, collaborative desktop publishing, TV and Radio broadcasting.
Mayor Albee Benitez expressed his excitement to all students that they are geared towards representing Bacolod City in the regional level. He highlighted that in everything that they do, the city government is always at their back.
Joining MABB were Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Ramir B. Uytico, EdD, CESO IV and DepEd Regional Director, Reynald Gico, EdD, CESO VI, Division Superintendent, Lynee Peñaflorida, PhD, Assistant Division Superintendent, and Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve OAR, UNO-Recoletos President.
All of them expressed their support to this year’s theme in upholding truth and editorial judgement in the face of Artificial Intelligence (AIs)
The DSPC will run from May 2-4 at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos.
