February 2, 2024 – Bacolod City Health Office launched the National Oral Health Month with a theme, “Let’s DOH-8! Vision 7020 Oplan Iwas Bungal” featuring an engaging caravan from Bacolod City Health Office to Bacolod City Government Center going to Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

Following the caravan, the program officially commenced, representing Dr. Ma. Carmela Gensoli, Ms. Jamaica Gail I. Isidto, Sanitation Inspector IV/Health Education and Promotion Officer Designate, eloquently set the tone with insightful opening remarks, underscoring the significance of oral health in the community.

Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo “Kalaw” Puentevella, along with Dr. Ramon Mateo Grecia Jr. from the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development delivered inspirational messages.

The event showcased informative sessions on various health aspects: Dr. Maribel Yao Ong, President of the Philippine Dental Association Negros Occidental Chapter Inc, delivered a lecture on Oral Health Awareness; Nutritionist Ms. Myrra Lei Unson addressed Food Security, while Ms. Ceprelyn Benignos discussed Mental Health Awareness. Their expertise offered valuable insights into fostering good oral hygiene practices.

The event included a raffle for all participants and featured engaging games. Among the participants, consisting of 50 daycare pupils, 25 senior citizens, and 25 pregnant women, each received a token comprising Nutrition supplies and Dental & Hygiene Kits.

The event concluded with closing remarks delivered by Dr. Luningning Esmores.

Starting next week, they will be conducting outreach in their chosen barangay, distributing dental kits, and providing oral health education.
