September 1, 2023- 22 female beneficiaries completed the month-long reformation and intervention program of Balay Silanagn at the Bacolod City Police Office Covered Court. This transformative journey signifies their commitment to a brighter future.
Councilor Simple Distrito, standing as a representative for Hon. Mayor Albee Benitez, proudly declared the official graduation of these resilient individuals. Their achievements were celebrated with a sense of optimism and hope for the path that lies ahead.
Councilor Psyche Marie “Pao” Sy, the SP Committee on Peace and Order, and Illegal Drugs, delivered an inspiring message, urging all 22 graduates to remain steadfast in their resolve to resist temptation. She encouraged them to carry the invaluable lessons learned at Balay Silangan into their homes, where the true test of their transformation would unfold.
The presence of distinguished guests added gravitas to the occasion, emphasizing its significance. Among those in attendance were BSRC Administrator PB Gen. Primitivo Tabujara, DILG City Director Ma. Joy Marideth Madayag, CAVCOB Chairman Mr. Rey Jereos, Provincial Officer IA V Cornelio Espartero, Chief Parole Officer, Parole and Probation Office II Mr. Mark Thaddeus Tanalgo, Chief Parole Officer, Parole and Probation Office I Ms. Mary Ann Lalaine Fernandez, and DSSD OIC Ms. Sally Abelarde.
The journey doesn’t end here. A community-based aftercare rehabilitation program, overseen by the Department of Social Services and Development and the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, both under the vigilant supervision of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, will ensure that these graduates continue to receive support as they reintegrate into society. This holistic approach signifies the collective commitment to their ongoing success and the pursuit of a drug-free, harmonious community.
