Bacolod City is making great strides in sustainable energy with the implementation of solar energy projects, under Mayor Albee Benitez’s leadership. These initiatives have been installed at the Bacolod City Government Center and across 16 barangays in the city, contributing to both energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The solar power installations are distributed across various locations, with the following capacities:

Bacolod City Government Center: 400KW

Barangay Alijis: 40 KW

Barangay Taculing / DRRMO / Gym: 150 KW

Barangay Granada / Public Market: 80 KW

Barangay Villamonte / Gym: 50 KW

Barangay Vista Alegre / Progresso Village / Evacuation Center / Youth Home: 120 KW

Barangay Singcang Airport: 40 KW

Barangay Tangub: 40 KW

Barangay Estefania: 40 KW

Barangay Pahanocoy: 40 KW

Barangay 16 (Rizal Elementary School): 40 KW

Barangay Handumanan: 40 KW

Barangay Punta Taytay: 40 KW

Barangay Cabug: 40 KW

Barangay Felisa: 40 KW

Barangay Sum-ag / Barangay Hall / Public Market: 140 KW

The total capacity of these solar power systems is 1,340 KW. These projects are expected to generate significant energy savings for the city, with each barangay projected to save around 50% on their energy costs.

In total, the projected energy savings amount to approximately Php 14,974,252.32 per year, providing not only economic benefits but also contributing to Bacolod City’s commitment to renewable energy and reducing its carbon footprint.

These solar energy projects reflect the administration’s focus on sustainable development and cost-effective solutions for the city’s energy needs.
