January 30, 2025- Hans T. Sy, Chairman of SM Prime Holdings Inc., alongside his son, Mr. Harvey Sy, daughter Ms. Hanna Carinna Sy, and Bacolaodiat Inc. Chairman, Mr. Stephen Sy were welcomed today at the Bacolod City Government Center SP Session Hall.

Under Resolution 948 series of 2024, Mr. Sy was proudly named as an adopted son of Bacolod, and was granted the title of being an Honorary Mayor for the day to celebrate the 2025 Lunar New Year, his efforts towards Bacolod’s economic growth, and his commitment to sustainable development to the community. Mr. Sy’s visionary leadership, societal engagements and, philanthropy were highlighted as his generous contribution and help towards the city of Bacolod.

In his acceptance speech, he emphasized that Bacolod always had a special place in his heart, and praised the Bacolod people for being cultured, fun loving, food loving, and loyal to friends and family. He is committed to continue supporting Bacolod’s growth through business, education, tourism, job generation, and his personal advocacy of sustainability and disaster prevention.

After his conferment, Mayor Albee Benitez warmly welcomed him in the Mayor’s Office where he sat down as an official Honorary Mayor. He and Mayor Albee shared laughs and thanked him for his efforts in the economic growth and development of Bacolod through a token of appreciation.
