February 26, 2025 – The Department of Agriculture – NIR (DA-NIR) met with the Bacolod LGU for an Agri-Fishery Development Coordination Meeting today at the City Mayor’s Office, Bacolod City Government Center.

Present were Councilor Thaddy Sayson, City Agriculture Head Maricar Quiro, CCLDO Head Brenda Burdeos, DA-NIR OIC-Regional Executive Director Jose Albert A. Barrogo, OIC-Regional Technical Director (Research and Regulations) Ray H. Embajador, OIC-Regional Technical Director (Operations and Extensions) Alejandro E. Rafal, and Engineer II (Regional Agricultural Engineering Division).

During the meeting, City Agriculture Head, Maricar Quiro, shared updates regarding the Project HAPAG (Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay sa Barangay) in the city which was then followed by the presentation of plans of the DA-NIR such as the Bacolod City Urban Food Basket, Proposed Alangilan Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP), and the Kadiwa “Rice for All” among many others.

Upon execution of this plan, it will be known as the Agri-SENSO Bacolod which stands for:

Agri- Agri-Fishery

S – Sustainability and

E – Enterprise Development on

N – Naturally Grown Products Using

S – Smart Agriculture Technologies for more

O – Opportunities in Bacolod
