September 15, 2024 – “I hope that this will usher in a new era in the film industry in the City of Smiles and will bring about better film industries, film festivals in the years to come.” Mayor Albee Benitez remarked during his opening message in the first-ever Bacolod Film Festival. The Bacolod Film Festival Committee held an awards night and closing ceremony to recognize the numerous Bacolodnon film awardees tonight at SM Cinema 1, Bacolod City.
Together with Mayor Albee Benitez were esteemed guests MTRCB Chairperson Diorella “Lala” Sotto-Antonio, City Councilors Em Ang, Cindy Rojas, Israel Salanga, and Vladimir Gonzales, LEDIPO Head Frances Mae Llamas, Jurors Philip Cheah, Atty. Joji Alonso, Jose Javier Reyes, Lawrence Fajardo, and Wanggo Gallaga, among many others.
Additionally, there were also special performances from the Garcia-Sanchez School of Dance, Charles Kevin Tan, and the De La Salle Chorale.
Lastly, five (5) lucky winners of the iPhone 15 and three (3) winners of Php 100,000 were also identified during the event. Winners may claim their prizes until September 30 at the City Mayor’s Office, Bacolod City Government Center.
