BACOLOD CITY, PHILIPPINES — The City Government of Bacolod, through the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), officially commenced distribution of the Solo Parent Cash Subsidy on February 16, 2026. A total of 1,500 registered solo parents in the city will receive ₱6,000 each, covering the period July to December 2025. The total fund allocated for the initiative is ₱9 million. The first payout was held at Villamonte Gym in Barangay Villamonte, where 750 solo parents claimed their assistance. A total of ₱4,500,000 was disbursed on the first day. The subsidy aims to ease the financial burden of solo parents, supporting household expenses, health care, and children’s education. The DSSD announced a second payout is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026, for remaining beneficiaries. The distribution also emphasized responsible spending. Jolinda Q. Filiu, 54, a mother of five and one of the day’s recipients, shared a message for fellow beneficiaries: “We must be careful with this money and be mindful of how we spend it,” Filiu said. “Make sure to spend it for the good of the family, like food, necessities, and important things. Do not spend it on useless things.” Beneficiaries who missed today’s distribution or cannot attend the February 18 payout may process their claims at the DSSD Office in the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC). They are reminded to bring their valid Solo Parent ID and other necessary identification documents for a smooth transaction. The City Government remains committed to prioritizing the welfare of vulnerable sectors and ensuring efficient delivery of social services to all Bacolodnon families.
