For the first time not only in Bacolod, but in the entire Philippines, the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup 2026 SEABA Qualifiers will be hosted right here in the City of Smiles!
Bacolod was chosen by FIBA and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas because of the city’s growing capacity to host international events — from facilities and infrastructure to logistics, safety support, and the warm Bacolodnon welcome.
According to SBP Executive Director Atty. Erika Dy, preparations in Bacolod have been “good as perfect,” with strong support from the City Government.
FIBA representative Wong Chung Min also shared that Bacolod is a fitting home for this event, and that more FIBA events may soon come to the city.
Mayor Greg Gasataya expressed his gratitude to FIBA, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) for bringing this international basketball competition to Bacolod, as the City Government, together with PNP and allied national agencies, commits to ensuring a safe and successful tournament.
A welcome dinner was hosted by the city for the officials, players, and guests at the Bacolod City Government Center.
The games tip off today, June 2, 4:00 PM at STI West Negros University Gym. The SEABA qualifiers include the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam teams.
Free tickets are available at the entrance of STI-WNU for residents who wish to watch and support our young athletes.
Let us cheer for Gilas Pilipinas and show the world the heart, energy, and hospitality of Bacolod! ![]()
