Application for Japanese Scholarship Grant On

     City government officials are invited to avail of a scholarship program from the Japanese Grant for Human Resource Development Scholarship Project (JDS), which will start next year until 2006.
     Under this scholarship, applicants may choose from four (4) fields of study covering various courses. These are as follows:
     A. PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
- Master of Economics / Master of Laws / Master of Political Science / 
   Master of International Studies
- Master of Arts in Public Administration
- Master of Arts in Policy Science
   B. ECONOMICS
- Master in Public Policy
- Master of Arts in International Development
- Masters Degree in Economics
  C. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
- Master of Science in Global Information and Telecommunication Studies
- Master of Engineering / Master of Science
  D. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
- Master of Business Administration
     To qualify, the nominee should be a mentally and physically fit Filipino citizen below 35 years old, and not holding any military post.
     He or she should have a Bachelor’s Degree relevant to the target fields of study (except for the ICT field, which requires the applicant to be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in ICT or its equivalent), and must not be a recipient of any current or past foreign scholarship for Master’s Degree.
     The nominee should also be presently employed with the city government, with at least two (2) years of working experience at the time of nomination.
     To further qualify for the scholarship grant, the nominee must meet the requirements of the chosen university, and must have an English language proficiency level of 6.0 for IELTS or 550 for TOEFL (CBT 213).
     Successful candidates shall undergo a full-time preparatory Japanese language training in Manila for two (2) months and, upon completion of the study, shall contribute to the socio-economic development of the Philippines.

     Applicants are also advised to submit their application with the required documents to the DILG Regional Office at least three working days prior to the deadline of submission to the donor country on October 22, ,2004, to allow for endorsement by the regional director.*(CMO-PIO/jmi)
