Access
to water, better lighting facilities, and other infrastructure facilities
are among the needs of many Bacoleños the Leonardia administration
recognizes. They are among its major priorities, as it sets off on its
mission to rebuild Bacolod City.
Presently, the city government is providing for these needs by stepping up
the implementation of various projects in the barangays, and is expected
to implement more in the days to come.
Residents may now enjoy adequate water supply
from the artesian wells constructed by the City Engineer’s (CEO) Office
through the efforts of the Public Affairs and Assistance Division (PAAD).
Additional artesian wells are expected to be
constructed soon in Barangays 34, 27, Bata, Villamonte Cabug, and
Singcang-Airport, together with the installation of more Jetmatic pumps
and the repair of old units.
To ensure the safety of residents at night,
installation of new streetlights and repair or replacement of old lamps
have also been endorsed to the CEO for implementation. This includes the
request by Barangay 33 for 10 streetlights.
Other projects that are set to start soon include
the construction of waiting sheds at San Juan-Araneta Streets and along
the Circumferential Road, the construction of additional footwalk, and
improvement of roads and drainage system.*(CMO-PIO/jmi) |
