Bacolod City to celebrate Peace Week

    Bacolod City will celebrate “Peace Week” on November 29 to December 5, 2004 as approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod during its 8th Regular Session held last August 9, 2004.
     In a resolution authored by Hon. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, Chairman Committee on Women and Gender, the SP is urging all concerned sectors in the city to mark the said activity with appropriate programs and activities.
     The week- long celebration is in solidarity with the “Week of Peace in Mindanao”, according to SPM Sigue. The City will host various programs to be participated in by various sectors for them to be given ample opportunity to gather in one call for peace where they can likewise be educated about proper ways of dealing with conflicts and how to transform these conflict towards peace, she added.
     In line with this, the SP created an AD HOC committee to collaborate with other sectors including the Office of the City Mayor. The committee is composed of Hon. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue as chairman and Councilors Arturo Parreño and Dindo Ramos as members.* (CMO-PIO/sar)
