Mayor Evelio "Bing" Leonardia
assured that peace and order being a fundamental and basic requirement for
stability, will remain at the top of the agenda of his administration.
In his speech after the flag raising rites at the
Bacolod City Police Compound last Monday.
Mayor Leonardia said he is grateful working with
Senior Supt. Vicente Ponteras as the city police director the second time.
"I made the right decision in choosing him
as the city director because we've been together during my previous term
and I felt comfortable having him around," he said, adding "If
we did our best in our previous tandem, then there's no reason we could do
better again."
Leonardia also pledged to release the request of
the Bacolod City Police Office for the increase of the monthly allocation
in due time.
His administration plans to enhance the city
police performance for the BCPO regain its title as the "Best Police
Office in the Region"
Although his month-old administration is facing
several problems, like squatters' relocation site issues and traffic
problems, Mayor Bing is hopeful that his tandem with Ponteras will lead to
finding solutions for the present problems in the city.
Mayor Leonardia also said that traffic problems
will also be given attention by his administration.
Moreover, Leonardia considers Ponteras as an important
member of his management team together with City Legal Officer, Alan
Zamora, Secretary to the Mayor Dr. Roger Balo and City Administrator Atty.
