The Bacolod City Government, represented by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, will
enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Riverside Medical Center
for the set up of a lying-in and birthing home facility at the City
Health Office compound.
The MOA signing will be held today at 11am at the New
Government Center with Leonardia signing for the city government and
Riverside president Hector Torre for the hospital.
Leonardia said that the lying-in and birthing home
facility will be a precursor to the construction of a city hospital
soon. The mayor said that this facility will definitely decongest the
Western Visayas Regional Hospital and will help, most importantly, the
less privileged Bacoleños.
The mayor expressed hopes that the city government will
be able to address further the health and medical concerns of many
Bacoleños through the lying-in and birthing home facility.
Under the MOA, Riverside will be in charge with the
renovation of the building, provision of equipment and facilities and
the supply of personnel. The hospital will provide an initial set of
medical supplies after which, it will be the city government‘s
responsibility to ensure that the medical supplies in the facility are
always adequate. The city government, through the City Health Office
will also have direct supervision over the facility personnel.
